Don Hansler has lived his entire life in the State of Washington. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1951 with a degree of Bachelor of Science and then later obtained the degree of Master of Science. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After being discharged from the Army, he obtained a teaching certificate from the University of Washington, then proceeded to work for the Bellevue School District as a teacher of math and science and as the Science Coordinator for the 32 schools in the district.
After retiring in 1982, he conducted research for three years on methods of teaching thinking skills and then based a college textbook on the results of that research. For fourteen years, he presented, on a volunteer basis, classes entitled “Thinking With Science” five days per week. Those classes combined instructions in thinking skills with instruction on major scientific concepts. Don wanted to continue sharing his teachings and knowledge of “Thinking with Science” with others, so he created this website to do just that.
